JD Central launches its giant online sale ‘618 Super Joy Shopping Fest’ in Thailand. The shopping festival starts with a pre-sale campaign, offering discounted products from more than 6500 brands. The Super Flash Sale offers exclusive products for US$19.40 during the campaign, with items as low as 3 US cents from June 18-20.
The Bt17.5 BILLION joint venture (JD CENTRAL) between Central Group and JD.com aims not only to aid the country’s digital transformation but also bolster trade ties between the Thailand and China. The partnership with JD.com would mark a significant step for Central Group and supporting the government’s Thailand 4.0 initiative to move towards the digital economy era. The joint venture will enhance strategic co-operation in many areas such as technology, cyber-trade, e-commerce, logistics, e-finance, and international trade. The move will also allow opportunities for at least 10,000 suppliers with 50 million products to bring quality Thai goods into China.
“618 is the largest annual shopping festival of our parent company JD,” said K Rvisra Chirathivat, CMO of JD Central. “We will continue to expand it with the 618 Super Joy campaign in Thailand, which brings to customers 100-per-cent authentic brand products with special prices.”
The creation of JD Central brings benefits to customers in Thailand offering more choices to shopping online. It will be interesting to see how JD Central competes with other popular online retailers like Lazada, Kaidee, 11street and Shopee. Through the strategic partnership, Central Group hopes to increase the revenue contribution from e-commerce from the current 1 per cent to about 15 per cent over the next 5 years.
